You had no more to do with the equality of women than I did. It happened a long time ago and thank god. It never ever should have been questioned in the first place. What gives any man the right to dictate to another gender or race? You sound threatened by a self-sufficient woman. I don't think it's the feminity of women being put under attack, only their reliance on a man to make it all happen for them. Which by the way is a rarity in itself. Today's economy requires both partners to work, that is true for the majority that want better for their families. Women have had to learn to stand up for themselves and be counted, give kudos to them. Women have had to endure and become self-sufficient, many have had to take a number of knocks to do so, don't blame them if it has hardened their exterior a little, remember inside we are all still little boys and girls trying to survive in this great big world of ours filled with all of it's prejudices in one form or another. So please stop and think about what that woman has endured before labeling her. Boy! Did you hit a nerve or what. I feel better - hope you do too.

Hipnanny, as a male nurse I have worked in a predominantly female orientated environment and I too have suffered sexist remarks and discrimination both from my colleagues and from men who saw my chosen profession as less than manly. I am married with 5 sons and two of them are following in my footsteps. So from a male perspective I had a different take on women in that it was my admiration for them that brought me to nursing. I was hospitalised as a child and this affected my future career choice. but I stand by my disappointment as above.
