A squeaky floor is always a sign of a neglected home. It is not very difficult to fix a floor like that. All you need is time, an adjustable wrench, a Phillips head screwdriver and a Squeakender. A Squeakender is available at most hardware stores and cost around seven dollars.
Now from the underside of your floor locate the precise vicinity of the squeak. Inset the hanger bolt with its head in the concave of the anchor plate and position the plate against the joist.
Next you must tightly screw the anchor plate to the floor in such a way that it touches the nearest joint in the area which is squeaky. Now slip the joist bracket over the joist and the hanger bolt. Lastly install the washer and hand tighten the hex net with the wrench until the squeaking stops.
