How Was The Eiffel Tower Built?

How did they manage to get cast iron girders up so high when cranes were not even invented?

    The Eiffel tower was made to celebrate the French revolution and 300 workers took part in its making by using 18038 pieces of iron and joined them with half a million of rivets.Guard rails and movable stagings were used to reach up to the top safely.
