Containing more than sixty percent of the world's human population and covering 8.6% of Earth's surface, Asia is not only the most populated continent but, also, Earth's largest continent. The continent of Asia is broken down into six different sub-regions. Central Asia, Eastern Asia, Northern Asia, Southeastern Asia, Southern Asia and Western Asia, placed together, make up the continent of Asia, as we know it. Central Asia consists of the countries Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan while Eastern Asia consists of the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Mongolia, North Korea, South Korea and the Republic of China (Taiwan). Russia makes up Northern Asia and Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar (Burma), Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste (East Timor) and Vietnam are all a part of Southeastern Asia. Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka are a part of Southern Asia and Western Asia is compiled of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Cyprus, Gaza, Georgia, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Naxcivan, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, West Bank and Yemen.
