Are There Different Grades Of Granite For Headstones?
My mother is hunting for a headstone for my dads grave, the place where she looked said she should get the more expensive granite so it will last. Is she being taken to the cleaners or is this true?

I don't know for certain, but I would imagine that just as there are different grades of gemstone, there would be different grades of granite, or any stone of that nature, for that matter. There must be a website that could answer this difinitively for you tho. Check around, google, call or visit local 'masonrys'? I'll bet you could find out fairly easily tho.

I live where they quarry granite...there are many grades...any will last forever...there are also many different colors...don't let her get taken buy that guy...it's been in the ground for millions of years without falling apart, don't you think even the least expensive will last just as long as the most expensive...sorry for the loss of your father...don't let your mom get ripped-off. what you put on the stone should be more important than what the stone is made of...god bless you and your family and ease your suffering of your loss.
