Can My Landlady Raise My Rent For Something Other Tenants Have Done And Not Have Their Rent Raised?

The landlady has written a letter stating that my daughter has lived with me for 17days and that she is going to raise my rent 25%. Two other tenants in my building had people move in and have not had their rent raised. My daughter does not sleep in my apartment very often, and is gone most weekends. She comes over to visit regularly the rental agreement states that if a guest is staying in the apartment for more than 15 days, the owner has the right to raise the rent $100 or 25% what are my rights if any?

She must somehow proof that your daughter slept there 15 consecutive days. Unless the landlord is the property owner you can always fire off a letter to the owner. Ask them to show proof of other tenants rate increase.

Have you refer to the 'Landlord and Tenant handbook'? It should be available at your nearest courthouse and online.
