How did you find out this dog is allergic to plastic and rubber?
To start take away all environmental access to plastic and rubber--no rubber toys or plastic water bowls.  Avoiding contact with an allergen is the best way to prevent allergies.  Allergies are about control not cure.  We use medications to gain control of allergies.  Frequent bathing with an oatmeal based or prescription shampoo on a 2-3 times weekly basis is important.  Other modes of therapy include fish oil (omega-3 fatty acids), anti-histamines, treating secondary infections (yeast, bacterial, mites), and immune therapy if needed (steroids, allergy shots, immune system modification medication).  Your veterinarian needs to be a part of the treatment plan for allergies.  Consult with your veterinarian about how to proceed and what therapy your dog needs.
