Did Eddie Cochran Die In Chippenham?

    Yes, Eddie Cochran died in Chippenham. He expired on April 16, 1960, Saturday night, around 11:50 p.m. He died in a traffic accident in a taxi while travelling through Chippenham, Wiltshire, on the A4. He died at a very young age of 21. Songwriter Sharon Sheeley (Cochran's fiancée) and singer Gene Vincent were also in the car at the time of the accident. He was taken to St. Martin's Hospital, Bath where he survived a night but the following day, was declared dead at around 4:10 pm.

    George martin who was the taxi driver was charged a fine of £50 and was sent to prison for 6 months and was also suspended from driving for 15 years. Eddie Cochran was burried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Cypress, California.
