How Many People On Here Still Can Food?

My mom still cans tomatoes, if that's what you mean. It takes forever and makes the house smell like them (i hate it).

I was unware that this even existed and ironically enough, I feel twice my age. What a paradox.

My grandma stills cans her homemade chili sauce and gives it to the neighbors.

I learned how to preserve peaches,and when the house smells like them I'm reminded of my great grandmother and grandmother and how they used to tell each other which one of them is not canning right,it was fun to watch them fuss over each pot on the stoves,I also have a blackberry tree in my front yard so I don't have to buy them in the store,all I have to do is wait for them to fall into my buckets,the jam is pretty good.

I still make my own fruit preserves and jellys every summer.  I love home-made strawberry and peach preserves, and orange marmalade.  I also make my own grape jelly (but have to admit I cheat and use the unsweetened juice, not whole grapes).  Canned corn off the cob is every other year, as is the tomato chili sauce we use on hot dogs.

If by jarring, I do that, I make golden raspberry jelly for my daughter when we have to start picking them. I also save enough of them out to freeze for rhubarb raspberry pie, mmmmmmm.!

I did until the family now it's just me! Going to PR on a Harley!
