Answer Question

The bird that represents the United States of America is of course The Bald Eagle. The Bald Eagle is a symbol of strength, power and freedom and became the National emblem in 1782 when the great seal of the United States was adopted. The Great Seal shows a wide-spread eagle, on top of a blue field with thirteen stars ~ the same number of red and white stripes on his breast. In his right talon the eagle holds an olive branch and in his left he holds a bundle of thirteen arrows. On his back he holds a scroll inscribed with the motto 'E Pluribus Unum'. The Eagle appears in the Seals of many of the States, on most of their gold and silver coins and is often used in patriotic purposes.
It has been said that the eagle was used as the national emblem of America because at one of the first battles of Revolution, which occurred in the early hours of the morning, the noise of the struggle awoke the sleeping eagles and they flew from their nests and circled above the heads of the fighting men. Men claimed that the birds' shrieking was cries of 'Freedom'.
