I think you need to go to the library for this because they will go so far back if that doesn't help your local registry office may help also when you go make sure you have correct times /day of birth and death and that his name is correctly spelt it will save time good luck searching 

 You can also try like roots com it helps if you have his  place of birth  or maybe they have a certain kind of site just for this you local library could maybe help you with this good luck
