Who Is "King Log" In The Old Fable?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The frogs were quite happy splashing about in the pond, but one day they decided that they needed a king to keep them in order. So they called on Jove, king of the gods, to send them a king. Jove laughed and dropped an old log into the pond; the frogs took the huge splash it made as evidence of its power, and for a while they were very proud of their King Log. However, when they realised that the new king never took any notice of them or made any attempt to resolve their disputes, they began to forget he was there, climbing over him and sitting on him. After a while they decided that Log wasn't much of a ruler, so they called to Jove again, asking him to send a more active leader this time. By now Jove was annoyed with the frogs; so for their new king he sent them a stork, which promptly ate them all up.
