First of all you need an instructor or a driving school. It is wise not to practice-drive in your family car until you can make proper right and left turns with confidence in the driver education car. Then choose a licensed relative or friend who is patient and whom you can trust to help you get more supervised practice. Before practicing with this person in a car that has no dual-control, make sure the person you choose know every thing. When you practice in the family car, it is best to do only those maneuvers that you have practiced in the driver edu¬cation automobile.
Most persons should plan to have at least 30-40 hours of practice driving behind-the-wheel before taking the road test for a driver's license. To complete the lessons in the driving school will usually require 6-8 hours behind-the-wheel with your instructor. You should also receive 12-20 hours of observation time in the back seat of the driver education car. Therefore, plan to have at least 24-30 hours of supervised practice in your family car. After this amount of practice, you should find it easy to pass the state road test for your driver's license.
By the end of driving lessons, you should have developed your own personalized system for perceiving, judging, and responding to the variety of driving situations you will encounter. Hopefully, you will have learned those habits and skills which can lead to a lifetime of safe driving.
