Where Is The Ark Of The Covenant?

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Ark of the Covenant is widely believed to be a container carrying the original stone tablets on which the Ten Commandments was written. This has been indicated in the Hebrew Bible. According to the Bible, God gave Moses instructions to construct this Ark. The ark apart from containing the Ten Commandments also contained the rod of Aaron and a gold pot of manna, which was the food which God used to provide them with during their 40 years in the desert. The ark was lost after the Babylonian attack on Jerusalem in the 6th century. Many historians believe that it was destroyed. However the ark of Covenant has become a legend now and rumours of its existence still persist. The Ark of the Covenant means many things to many people. For some, it is a mystical object with paranormal powers, for others, an object of religious significance like the Holy Grail. In  popular culture, it is just considered as a precious treasure.

Interestingly  this question was attributed to me. I didn't ask it but I will add my answer.
It was last seen after the Babylonian invasion (see Bible). According to the apocrypha Jeremiah hid it in a cave in Mt. Nebo before the Babylonian invasion, and it will not be revealed until God is ready for it to be found. There are many speculations and some claims for the where abouts of the Ark.
Some places people claim the Ark is today:

      • Mt. Nebo

      • Egypt

      • Ethiopia

      • In a cave underneath the Temple Mount in Jerusalem

In the 1970's I read a book that claimed that a university in Indiana following the instructions in the Bible built a ark. The book said that they ended up with a transmitter of some kind. A more recent booklet attributes the Ark of the Covenant and other Old Testament miracles to visitors from another planet.

It was fun answering my own question that I didn't ask on a subject I have followed for several decades.
