A brain aneurysm is usually due to hypertension in old age. This is diagnosed by CT or MRI. I am surprised by the doctor of your mother who has not gone any radiological investigations before surgery. Because bone can be seen even with plain x-ray. Anyhow, i advise you to change the doctor and start again your proceeding by radiological investigations that what is the cause.
