Muhammad Ali is a retired American boxer, who was termed as Sportsman of the century. He won the World Heavy weight championship three times and has also won Olympic Light-heavyweight gold medal. It is true that Ali threw his Olympic Gold medal in the Ohio river, when he was refused to be served at a whites only restaurant and he has mentioned it in his autobiography. He was also given another medal in replacement during the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

According to Thomas Hauser, Ali's official biographer, Ali did not throw the medal into the Ohio River. He was refused service at a diner in Louisville, but lost the medal years later when he was living in Miami. Hauser refutes the Medal story in the book
