West Indies is not one country but a group of island nations located in the Caribbean. The islands that comprise the West Indies are as follows: Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Montserrat, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.

Collectively they call themselves the Federation of the West Indies and are considered as a part of the North American Continent. Jamaica is the largest island in the group and followed by Trinidad and Tobago.

The total population of the area is around three to four million people and the majority of them are of African descent. The majority of the population is protestant with a sizable chunk of people are Catholics, Hindus and Muslims.

The climate of all the islands is tropical and the weather is hot and humid. Inlands regions of some large islands have temperate climate.
