The bouzouki is the mainstay of the Modern Greek Music, it is a stringed instrument which has pear shaped body and it has a very long neck. The Bouzouki is said to be known as the member of a 'long neck lute' family which is very similar to the mandola. The front body of the bouzouki is flat and it is usually engraved with heavy mother of pearl inlays. The Bouzouki instrument is mainly played with the plectrum and it has a sharp metallic sound. There are three types of bouzoukis that are available; the Trichordo has three pairs of strings, the Tetrachordo has four pairs of strings and the Irish bouzouki has four pair of strings with a flat back.
