Where Can I Find A Dictionary Of The Algonquin Language?

Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

The Algonquin language is a language found within the family of Algonquian languages. It is spoken today by around three thousand people in Ontario and Quebec. The Algonquin language is closely related to another Native language known as the Ojibwe. Since the language is not spoken by many people finding a dictionary may prove difficult. Libraries and bookstores may have books relating to the American Indian languages in general and this may prove useful. The internet can prove a useful tool as one can avail of online dictionaries and encyclopaedias. Individual words can also be searched online. Care must be taken not to confuse the Algonquin language with either Algonquian or the closely related Ojibwe. Good websites to look at are www.native-languages.org and the link www.websters-dictionary-online.org/translation/Algonquin.
