Where Can I Buy A Live Spider Monkey?
My wife & I have been searching for a spider monkey for a pet, but are not sure where to look for exotics.

You could try the exotic pet company, though I'm afraid I can't tell you anything about them. What I can tell you is that nearly all animal experts are dead against keeping monkeys as pets - they are incredibly destructive, often carry diseases and some vets won't treat them - are you sure you want one??

Be that as it may, (don't get me wrong, i think they're better off in the wild), people are still going to buy and sell them on when they're bored or got bitten, or can't look after them, and if it wasn't for someone wanting to buy them and give them a good home after having researched and trained for their keep, then they would be in serious trouble, especially as hardly any animal welfare groups have government funding or support. It's a huge responsibility, yes, because I'm considering one myself, but if nobody had one of these animals as pets then they would be sitting somewhere waiting to be bought all their lives and probably die that way if the pet business crashed. If you look after them properly and tried to simulate their natural environment as much as possible, then it shouldn't be a problem about cruelty and a worse quality of life. Just make sure you make the right decision when considering buying one, not on a whim, and make sure you're going to be able to look after it and give it the life it deserves, preferably better than in an animal shelter.
Plus you can teach the monkey cool tricks like hand jobs.
First of all it's morally WRONG to own a WILD animal and keep it as your pet. I saw the comment about people are going to just sell them anyway, and instead of letting them sit in the cage buy it. STUPID, if you don't give these idiots any money...they won't be able to keep their ILLEGAL business running. Also to the person who said that there isn't going to be any spider monkeys left in the world because wildlife refuges don't have enough money...Gee, why don't you make a contribution in the amount you were going to spend on the monkey in the first place, and I mean vet trips, shots, toys, food, ect... That way there will be plenty of monkey's in their NATURAL ENVIRONMENT. How would you like it if some butthole came and killed your mom so that they could steal you, put you in a cage, abuse you most likely, then sell you off to the highest bidder to be some schmuck's entertainment, until they get bored or you bite their butt for taking their whole life and tossing it into the crapper. You then end up getting tossed into a trash heap to rot. What a GREAT life you will be giving to you "beloved" pet. JERKS.
