Answer Question

1 Answer - Sort by: Date | Rating

Major places of interest in Poole include Sandbanks, Brownsea Island Natural Reserve, Tower Park, Poole Bay, Compton Acres Gardens and Poole Pottery.

Sandbanks is a small peninsula. It juts out over the mouth of the Poole harbour. It is located near Bournemouth in the south of England. Much of Brownsea Island is a natural reserve, which is associated with the establishment of the Boy Scouts Movement.

It is here that Lord Robert Baden-Powell founded the international scouting organisation, which will celebrate its centenary in August 2007. Tower Park is one of the major leisure complexes in Poole. Poole Bay extends from the mouth of Poole harbour in the west to Hengistbury Head in the east. Poole Pottery manufactures exquisite export-quality pottery and is one of the leading companies in the United Kingdom that still produces hand-made pots. Some of the pots from Poole Pottery are displayed at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
