What Does Pons Mean?

Pons is a structure that is located in the stem of the brain, it is postural to the medulla oblongata, and it is caudal to the mid brain and the ventral to the cerebellum. In human beings and other various bipeds it means that it is above medulla, lies below the mid brain and at the anterior of the cerebellum.
Pons is a part of the central nervous system and its main function is to relay the sensory information between the cerebellum and cerebrum, many scientists believe that the Pons also play an important role in the process of dreaming.
