I believe they have to give 30 days notice, you may want to check with local housing authority for local laws.

It is approx 30 days you get a letter saying it is close to lease renewal time and if you do wish to stay and renew your lease your rent for the year will increase to $.... Per month.........the best to you

It should be stated in your lease when you have to give notice. Texas laws say the landlord has to give 65 days notice before the lease ends if a 60 day notice to vacant is required. Some say 5 days before the tenant gives a 30 notice to vacant.

I had a raise in rent, the day I went in to sign new lease, no warning and no way out, basically got screwed, so I request a notice with the new renewal rates around notice time. Then I have the proof in my hands and I can say hold up, I have this and thats not what this says, I'll see ya in court if the amount varys from the paper...

Basically if you don't want to get burned, cover your bases and get your own notice from the landlord well before the alloted notice to be giving stage.
