Clothes. Everybody needs them. Granted, some people wear more than others - depending on where they live, what styles they like and how much skin they are happy to expose.
The fact is that they have a shelf life. When we are younger we grow out of clothes so quickly we barely have them on our backs. When you get older you tend to hold onto them for longer, partly because we can, but also because we don't want to spend too much money! (well unless you are a shopoholic)
If your old clothes are not in a fit condition to be worn again, there is really only one thing you can do. Throw them out! Although if you know a particularly good design student they might be able to salvage some of the material. A lot of fashion courses now include a module on recyclable material so they may take some off your hands.
If the clothes are in a good condition, give them a wash and a quick press and take them along to a charity shop. Someone will give them a second lease of life, the money will go to charity and you're not filling up landfills!

If you want to get rid of your old clothes you could give them to a charity or have a yard sale.
