She is watching a fencing match between Hamlet and Laertes and, very pleased to see that Hamlet is doing well, she picks up a cup of wine to drink to his success in the match. However, the wine has secretly been poisoned - this is a plot between Claudius and Laertes to kill Hamlet as the wine is intended for him. Claudius tries to stop her but it's too late.
