    The word Quran is from Arabic language. The meaning of the word Quran is recitation. This word has been mentioned in the Holy Quran for around 70 times and each time its assumes a different meaning.

    It is used as a verbal noun of the Arabic verb Qara'a which means he read or he recited. Majority of the Muslim scholars agree that the word comes from arabic word Qara'a.

    It has also been used with the meaning of revelation which has been sent down at intervals.
