What Is The Worst Thing About Animal Testing.

Answer Question

2 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

Animal testing is a very debatable topic. There are many bad things about it and I cannot point out one single thing that I can classify as the worst thing about animal testing, but it can be positive too.

From today's life, I do not think animal testing can be completely ruled out. For example, it is done for important medical research that can save several human lives, then I think there is nothing wrong with it. I am not trying to say that it is ok to kill an animal but I still think that human life is of more value than animal life. I do not think I can ever value animal life above human life. I know lots of people believe that a life is a life no matter what, that is, whether it is an animal or a human, it is equally important. Not so in my opinion. For example, if I have an option to save one life only, My dog's or my husband's. I'll save my husbands. If, in order to save the life's of my family members I have to kill a thousand rats, I will probably do that without a second thought.

However, the worst thing about animal testing can be that in some cases it is not even necessary. For example I think it is cruel to use animals for testing of cosmetics. That is absolutely uncalled for and cruel in my opinion. However, I think it is perfectly alright if it is for important medical research.

The worst thing definitely is the testing itself. Imagine how you would feel if you were being experimented upon all the time.

This research where animals are experimented upon is cruel and  definitely merciless. It involves creatures who are helpless.

There is actually no law that says that the cosmetic products should be tested on the animals first and if they don't show any signs of irritation etc then that product is going to be good for human beings. The truth is that every specie reacts to these tests differently.

What test may have come out good for the animals might not suit a human being's skin. That substance might be toxic for us and vice versa.

These animals that are tested upon have to face so many side-effects resulting from the cruel experimentation. They bleed, develop ulcers and what not.Sometimes they even die during the research.

We, the consumers, can definitely help in this regard. We should buy products that are not animal tested. There are other kinds of tests too that aren't done on animals and have had more accurate results. We should be supporting those tests and not be a part of the cruelty animals are subjected to.
