What Does Mace Mean?

    The word mace is basically used for two things and both of them are used quite often.
            
    You can use the word for a kind of chemical that can make your eyes and skin sting. The chemical is being used mostly by the police officers who carry the chemical in cans and whenever somebody attacks them the officers use the chemical to defend themselves.
          
    The word mace can also be used for a kind of decorative stick that is used as a sign of authority usually by an official. The stick is usually a quite heavy one and has a head with a metal point.
          
    There is another popular use if the word and you can use it for the outer covering of nutmegs, a spice used for cooking.
