Why Is My Cat's Eyelid Bruised And Swollen?

Answer Question

Trauma is the most likely cause.  Blunt trauma to the face can cause both bruising and swelling.  Another possibility is self-trauma.  Your cat may have conjunctivitis or a corneal ulcer.  This discomfort causes the cat to rub and scratch leading to the swelling, etc.  Ocular foreign body is another possibility.  I would have your cat examined by a veterinarian.  They will do a Fluorescein stain to determine the integrity of the cornea; can start appropriate medication including pain medication.
