    The chemical formula for ammonia hydroxide is NH4OH. It is also known as ammonia water. The other names for ammonia hydroxide are ammonical liquor, aqueous ammonia and aqua ammonia. Ammonium hydroxide is a solution of water. When ammonia is dissolved in  water, it decomposes into ammonium ion and hydroxide ion.

    NH3 + H2O ----------- >NH4+ + OH

    NH4+ + OH  ----------- > NH4OH
