It has been done, and not only that, it was done by the same two players twice in a single season.
The season was 1960/61 and one of the players was Terry Bly of Peterborough United, i can't remember who the other was. The glorious Posh also set the league record of most goals scored in a season that year of 135. Bly contributed 52 of those which included 7 hatricks.
