Hope Im not too late to answerer this for you?
First off, to behave, when He/she is doin wrong and going strong: You've got to get the dogs undivided attention by using a variety of methods.
To settle down-sit and stay with eyes on you awaiting your next command or approval. ALWAYS use the exact same word/clap/whistle ect., with the emphasis on not speaking loudly. This will create a controlled response that will make command useless until done in a loud or yelled tone. And physically grab coll er, motion dog backwards while pushing hind quarters down while saying"down" or "sit" or sit stay. A follow up snap of the fingers at the same time as the command while pointing your finger down. This will also get much easier in the future and command can be done with just a finger snap and a point or even just "dogs name"with a point.
All of the above will work for all the do's and don't you desire from your pet. The key to success is be consistant with exact same command, jesture, tone, everything. And don't get angry. The dog doesn't know exactly what you want it to do and is just confused. But have faith and a little patience, and follow the steps above and your dog will become another member of the family.
The same directions go for training to do tricks, or unique ways to bark, the skys the limit. Treats or snacks should only be used as a last resort. And in some cases, a switch or belt that all else has failed . Start very mild with a bit more stern voice with command. Only progress if necessary. And usually the first or second punishment will get the dogs attention and will not be forgotten. And make sure that precisely the time that happens, , lower your tone, and give a low tone praise close to dogs ear to reassure him that he just did the right thing and Good Boy is just a nice thing to say. He will show his appreciation! Let me know how it goes or if you need some fine tuning. Joe
