Hey its very easy to download java from net. U just go through the web site www.sun.com . Here u can find different java versions including J2SE, J2EE and J2ME. For downloading latest version of java u go through the link www.java.com .
After download the java setup file double click and install it. Normally it will install in c:Program files.
After that u have to set up the environment variable. For that select My Computer properties by right click on My Computer icon. Then select Advanced tab, there is a button named Environment variable,u select dat button. Then a pop up window will come. Then click on new button.and given variable name as "path" (no double quotes) and variable path the path in which u install the java 6bin.
Then u can able to compile java by javac filename.java
and execute by java filename.
