Alan Partridge is a fictional character played by Steve Coogan. Alan is featured in the comedy 'I'm Alan Partridge', preceded by 'Knowing Me, Knowing You...with Alan Partridge'.
Alan is somewhat similar to the character David Brent from 'The Office'. He enjoys being the centre of attention and is constantly trying to get on the television.
In the first series of 'I'm Alan Partridge', Alan was seen trying to persuade BBC boss Tony Heirs for a second series of 'Knowing Me, Knowing You'. Tony outright refused.
Later on in the series, Tony dies as a result of falling from a roof leaving Chris Feather as the BBC boss. Chris prepares a five-year contract for Alan, but unfortunately dies just as he was about to sign it, leaving Alan to forge his signature.
In the second series, Alan's life is a little better, though he lives in a caravan. He has a Ukranian girlfriend named Sonia, and is in the process of having a house built. He has released an autobiography called 'Bouncing Back', which is later pulped due to poor sales.
Alan is radio show host in both series..
There was a five year gap between the two series, with the first being released in 1997, and the second in 2002.
