Who Was The Second Person To Reach The South Pole?

    South Pole is basically the Southernmost point on the surface of the Earth. It is located on Antarctica at the opposite side of the North Pole. South Pole is the site of United States Amundsen Scott South Pole station that was established in the year 1956.

    The first person to reach South Pole was of Norwegian origin. His name was Roald Amundsen and he and his party reached the pole on 14 December, 1911. The second person to reach the South pole was his competitor Robert Falcon Scott. He had a party of four men with him and he reached the pole on 14th January 1911. Scott and his men died of starvation on their way back.
