The currency used in Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic is Koruna also known as the Czech crown (CZK); the Czech Republic is a member country of the European Union but it has still not yet made the Euro as its official currency though Euros are accepted at some places. The official exchange rate at present is about 28 CZK = 1 Euro,
22 CZK = 1 US Dollar and 42CZK = 1 UK Pound.
The currency is in the denominations of 20, 50, 100, 200, 500, 1,000, 2,000 and 5,000. Also there are a number of places where one can avail of ATM facility and also a growing number of shops accept Credit Cards. Another point regarding the prices of essential commodities like food and beverages is that they are about 60% of the prices in countries like the UK with about 200 CZK sufficing for a good lunch. So go ahead and enjoy your Prague holidays while taking in the various sights and sounds of the city.

The Czech koruna (koruna means "crown") has been the currency of the Czech Republic, but there are no problem to pay in restaurants, taxi and shops with EUR or USD. The Czech koruna (koruna means "crown") has been the currency of the Czech Republic I paid via my credit card. I advice you to go to Czech Republic with EUR. The exchange rate is much higher than USD.
RE Currency Exchange...
There are many providers capable of converting you money and some may charge, others may even do it for free which is an increasingly common practice. The best thing to do if you need to change your money is to shop around. Your bank will be able to convert money as will the post office. Travel agents can also do this for you but check the commision rate of the provider.

Prague is the Capital of the Czech Republic whose currency is the Koruna. It is written in currency trading terms as CZK. One British Pound or GBP will buy you roughly 41.67333 Czech Korunas. Conversely one Koruna will buy you 0.02400 British Pounds. The word Koruna translates to Crown and is written as Korun on Bank notes issued by the Czech government.
Earlier when the Czech and Slovak republics were one country their currency was the Czechoslovakian Koruna. It was replaced by the Czech Koruna in 1993 at par.
Banknotes of the denominations 5000, 2000, 1000, 500, 200, 100, 50 and 10 are currently in circulation. Each Koruna is subdivided into 100 haléř. The Koruna is symbolized by Kč and for the haléř by h.
Like most European currencies the fate of the Koruna too seems sealed with the Czech Republic planning to replace it with the Euro by 2010.
