My Computer Mouse Isn't Moving Right, Do I Have To Get A New One?

The little rubber ball inside my mouse seems not to move as freely as it used to, it makes it very hard to play games where you have to move around quickly.

This happens to me regularly as well, the reason being is that the rubber ball picks up dirt and deposits it on small plastic wheels inside the mouse.

Turn the mouse over on its back. There should be plastic circular bracket that you should be able to twist left or right. This holds the rubber ball in. Once the bracket is removed, the ball should come out.

Hopefully you have long finger nails ! use your nails to clean the small plastic wheels, once the dirt has been removed, reassemble the mouse and you should be able to move it right now !

If you don't like getting your fingers dirty buy yourself an infra-red or laser mouse, these no longer have the balls so don't suffer from the dirt picking up problem.
