Newborn White Kittens, Could This Effect The Kittens Chances Of Being Deaf Or Having Other Problems?
I have two newborn kittens. They are 4 days old and have been completely white since birth. I have read that kittens will begin to respond to sound after a few days, but they are unresponsive. How long must I wait to confirm if they are deaf or not? Also, two of their litter were stillborn, and the mother was homeless and starved during the beginning of the pregnancy, until I took her in and adopted her.

Hmm..they could be. But to make sure, wait 1-2 weeks and if they are unable to response to sound, contact a vet.it may be a ear infection. Also make sure the mother doesn't eat them. Although its very normal.
Wish things come to!

Typically, white cats with blue eyes are deaf. I have a white cat with one blue eye that is deaf on the side where the blue eye is. A deaf cat is no less a cat than one that can hear just as well. I would wait to see what color their eyes are before you make a decision. Deafness does not really hamper a inside cat at all.
