No a coral is a alive and it dies so i wouldn't consider it a plant at least thats what they said in 4th grade

No it's not a plant..It is a Colony of millions of tiny organisms that build a sort of apartment complex out of calcium. As generations die new generations of coral build on top of the old and thats how corals grow.
