Is It Ok To Let Them Cry To Sleep?

Is it ok to let my 10 month old just cry herself to sleep? I feel like such a mean mom and that she will hate me for not comforting her and I dont want her to think she did anything wrong.

They say it depends on the cry.  If she's whaling don't go longer than 10 min.  Get her and comfort her and then try it again.  She does need to know your not going to run to her the minute she whimpers.  Also try to read and rock her during the time your comforting her. That helped me.  The other thing is they know and can feel when your tence and upset, so it's harder to calm her.  Walk away if your to frustrated. Make sure all is quiet and let her know it is time to go to sleep in any way you think she will understand.  Every child is different so don't get discouraged.   Good Luck.

Yes but you must keep checking them every few mins and just reasure them by rubbing the back a little. Do not leave them to sob or to cry for a long period on their own. I used this with my daughter. It took 3 nights for her to realise that when I put her to bed she had to sleep. After that bed time was great, bath, story then a peaceful nights sleep

I got my 3 year old daughter into a routine where I had to leave her in her bed room for 10 minutes crying, Then I would go back up to just let her know that I was still there then I'd leave her again and just keep going back and fourth to let her know I was there and hadn't gone anywhere.
It does not do them any harm,my little girl goes to bed at 8 now every night and wakes between 7 an 8, maybe later sometimes. It does no harm to your child!!! I used to think i was a bad mam leaving her cry but she's in a routine now,it was the best thing i did for my daughter, the only advice i can give you is keep going back and fourth to her to let her know your still there, give her a cuddle and a kiss then walk out of her room and leave her for 10 minutes if she still crying do it again!!!!
