It is very simple to calculate Percentages. For the above example, the solution will  be as follows:
    33% of $26 = 33/100x26=8.58
Hence you will have to pay $8.58 less than the actual price of $26.

The price for gas has increased by 5% during the past month. If the price per gallon a month ago was $1.20, what is the current price per gallon

Its simple actually. Here's an example:
        .32 x 100 = 32%. So with a decimal you just multiply it by 100.
