How Big Is Model Scale 1:18?

Answer Question

A one 1:18 scale refers to the size of the model being exactly an eighteenth of the size of the original. That is each centimetre or inch in the model represents eighteen centimetres or inches in the original. It is a scale that is used generally to replicate models of vehicles in die cast metal. It is preferred by model manufactures of cars as several details that would otherwise have to be deleted from other model scales can be freely incorporated into this scale; details such as steering wheels connected to the tyres, popping hoods and dickeys etc.

Scale model car manufacturers who are replicating other vehicles generally obtain licenses from the car companies to duplicate their models in scale. Several models are considered collector pieces and may cost a lot.
