    Leeds has a place called Kirkgate. Leeds is an important city on River Aire and urban centre of Leeds metropolitan borough of West Yorkshire, England. West Yorkshire is placed in Yorkshire and the Humber region of England. Lancanshire, Greater Manchester, Derbyshire, North Yorkshire and South Yorkshire skirt the county of West Yorkshire.

    There is a Leeds Kirkgate Market in Kirkgate. This is situated on Vicar Lake. It ranks second among the largest markets in Europe. Leicester Market is the largest one. It was started in 1822 and was an open air market. After a fire in 1975, it was restructured in 1992 and thus was also listed in the Grade I listed buildings.

    Kirkgate also holds a railway station in near Wakefield. It is the Wakefield Kirkgate Station. It is a common station on the Hallam, Pontefract and Huddersfield lines. It was started in 1840 and Wakefield Westgate Railway Station in 1867. The present station was built in 1854. Today, Wakefield Kirkgate Station is in neglected state. It is listed in the Grade II listed buildings.
