I Have A 04 Pt Cruiser, Having Transmission Problems, What To Do?
On way home today acceleration to 2500rpm is fine after that it revs but speed doesn't increase. Then from reverse to drive doesn't work without putting it into park first then it wouldn't seem to go to 3rd gear just rev to 5000 rpms...help please

That sounds an offal lot like you have a transmission leak and have run it clean out of fluid. I would also probably guess you spun a few barring and burned the friction plates.

Put it in drive, then point it towards a cliff. J/k
Before you take it to the garage, check the trans fluid. It should be a little handle, kinda like your cars oil dipstick. Sometimes they're yellow. You have to check it while it's running, and warm, with the car in Neutral WITH THE PARKING BRAKE ON! That part is important so you don't get hurt :P
If there's plenty in there, try adding some Lucas trans additive, I've had friends who had good luck with it. Hope it turns out well.
