Democracy is defined as the rule of people, for the people, by the people but this rule can only survive when the institutions of the state are unbiased, free to work and strong in strength. The four pillars on which a government runs, are administration, legislature, judiciary and media. But when these organs are not allowed to work freely and in an unbiased environment , the democratic process breaks up. The same case has happened with Pakistan. Since it's inception, It has been experiencing hurdles on a path to democracy. Never ever in the history of Pakistan, a government having public-mandate, be allowed to complete it's tenure. Consider the example of India, which also got independence in 1947 and till now, never had Martial-law but Pakistan had to bear it three times in 1958,1969 and 1977 respectively. When ever the country has started it's journey towards democracy, one of the organ of state was either dominated or hijacked. If Pakistan has to establish democratic rule, the organs of state should be strengthen and free from all exterior and interior pressures.
