Lake Garda is said to be the largest lake in Italy. It is situated in Northern Italy, and is placed half-way between Venice and Milan. It is basically an alpine district and was shaped by glaciers at the end of the last ice age. The lake and its shoreline are separated among the provinces of Verona, Brescia and Trento.
The lake is quiet a famous tourist destination, with many hotels and resorts located around its shore. The northern region of this lake is quiet narrow, and is generally bounded by mountains; its major chunk belongs to the Gruppo del Baldo.
It has been shaped like a morain valley, thought to have been formed under the action of Paleolithic glacier. Traces of a glacier action are present even till today.
