What Is The Name Of The River Through Preston?

Answer Question

The name of the river that passes through Preston is the River Ribble. The former Preston Port is the largest man-made marina in the United Kingdom. Since 1988, it has been the construction site of a major commercial and residential complex. It is also known as Riversway or the Docks.

At all states of the tide, the marina has a maximum depth of 40 acres of water. The dock is no longer used as a commercial seaport, as it is small in space and infested with blue-green algae, which gives the water its blue-green colour and pungent odour. It is also unsafe for sailing dinghies. The marina is situated at the north of the River Ribble.

The River Ribble enters into the east of the Irish Sea. The local authorities have formulated a redevelopment plan worth several millions of pounds for the refurbishment of the Preston Docks and large sections of the River Rubble which passes through the city of Preston. This project, which is also expected to include several commercial and residential buildings, is known as the Riverworks Project.
