    The human heart pumps blood to your bodies tissues. The blood that the heart pumps out to your body is full of oxygen from your lungs and is soaked up by your living tissues. Without oxygen, cells begin to die

      Because the heart pumps blood to the body, and without the blood going around the body you'll ie and you wont have oxygen to breathe.
