Why Do People Fear Rejection?

Answer Question

5 Answers - Sort by: Date | Rating

I think people fear rejection because they don't understand why they are not accepted, loved, respected, whatever the type of rejection. When a person does not have a reason why, it sometimes eats at them. This is when rejection hurts. If a person can see or understand why they are not excepted they can chalk it up to it's another person's opinion, but when it is left with uncertainty, wonder eats away.

Ask yourself the same question as in, if someone you love rejects you when you approach the one you love. Its something that cannot be expressed in words here. We can only feel it when it actually happens. Rejection in love is far from feeling bad about not being accepted only, its more about feeling the person's absence in your life. You start feeling bad about that person not being a part of your life. You miss that one and its all about feeling sad for not being a part of each other's lives. Its what I feel. Trust me as I've been rejected twice....

      Might sound funny....

People fear things that they DON'T want to happen.. Rejection happens to be one of them.. I would contradict of what Cspook7.. Its not that we DON'T understand why we are rejected..  Its actually US.. Having a hard time accepting the truth and dealing with it.. You can see that most people who show's fear on rejection are those people who are low - self esteem.. Lack of confidence.. Shy people.. For these types of people are so aware of their weaknesses.. They know what they lack, thus making them afraid of people rejecting them, because of it.. They are hurting because they feel inferior and rejection would be much more.. So people Fear it..  For me.. Those who doesn't understand why they are rejected are people who are OVER confident.. People who feel they have it all.. They are the one who doesn't expect rejection.. Either types it all hurts.. But the shy type fear it.. Just my opinion.. Haha

Why does a person fear anything? The person considers it a threat to their survival. A very sane person would reason it out and try to understand why he or she was rejected by asking the person or just chalk it up and be done with it. Life goes on and there are other fish in the sea. Some people get offended if they think you are looking at them wrong. It's individual.
