    A deer mouse is a kind of rodent native to North America. They are primarily found in deserts, prairies, and forests. The body size of a deer mouse is ranging from 2.8 inches to 3.9 inches and the tail size ranges from 2.0 inches to 5.0 inches. The colouration of a deer mouse varies from greyish to reddish brown. The speciality of their body is that it is dark at the top and gradually fades in colour at the bottom and becomes absolutely white at the beneath. It resembles very closely to white footed mouse.

    A deer mouse may live in a burrow by digging whole in the ground or they may also live by making nests in a building. They are nocturnal by nature. Their feeding depends on variety of seeds and nuts. They store food for future usages. In some occasion, a deer mouse may feed on insects as well.

    Deer mouse lives in group and is quite tolerant about each other. In winter season, they sleep together to conserve heat.

    A deer mouse is a prey of various species such as foxes, owls, snakes, hawks etc. A deer mouse can easily be tamed and is considered as an interesting pet.
